| Our History
Since Nevin Sanli, Thomas Pastore and Clinton Hill founded Sanli Pastore & Hill, Inc. (“SP&H”) in 1992, our history has been characterized by innovation, success and growth.
Beginning in 1992, SP&H quickly grew from three founding principals to over 20 employees
located in two offices: Los Angeles
(headquarters), and Sacramento.
SP&H has performed several thousand valuations and has quickly developed a diversified client base of private companies,
public companies, government agencies and law firms. Through the years, we broadened the services we offered from valuations
for litigation to financial analyses for estate & gift tax planning, employee stock ownership plans, business advisory services,
and financial reporting for public corporations.
A Growing Need
The reason for SP&H’s rapid growth was our ability to recognize and meet a growing need for
sophisticated and well-supported business valuations by adhering to our belief that every
assumption and opinion needs to be based on thorough research.
SP&H’s founders recognized that government agencies and middle-market companies embroiled in
complex litigation had difficulties finding qualified financial experts that provided
well-substantiated expert opinions at competitive rates. Many business appraisers supported
expert opinions with vague notions of “experience,” not identifiable, and unquestionable data.
Furthermore, many appraisers were slow to adopt new information technologies, severely limiting
their ability to research and analyze information.
Experience Is Not Enough
SP&H was thus founded on a simple belief: experience establishes credibility, but experience
and data show judges, juries and shareholders that a conclusion is correct and well founded.
Since inception, SP&H has leveraged the experience of its founders, the talent of its staff, and
the firm’s commitment to training and technology to provide opinions that are unparalleled in
sophistication and supportability. As a result, SP&H quickly developed an impressive track
record in trial (see case results) and a reputation for providing exceptional analyses that far
surpass industry norms (see client testimonials).
Beyond Litigation
Though SP&H began by providing expert opinions for litigation, we quickly realized that many
other events require financial analyses and expert opinions that can withstand intense
third-party scrutiny. To that end, we applied the same rigorous standards that made SP&H
successful in state and federal courts to our non-litigation assignments.
Today, SP&H is frequently asked by private and public companies to provide the following
non-litigation services:
The Future Is Bright
SP&H continues to grow by applying the beliefs and practices that enabled our
previous success. We continue to hire and retain quality professionals, and differentiate
our firm by providing superior services. For SP&H and our clients, the future is bright.
